Under Phase II SBIR funding, TRI/Austin developed a lightweight, durable, low cost, energy absorbing advanced vehicle floor mat material , that directly addresses these needs by substantially mitigating the risk of serious leg injury in the event of under vehicle IED detonation. ProtecktTM is a novel hybrid material consisting of an omnidirectional energy absorbing foam coated with a highly durable and elastic energy absorbing polyurea surface layer, and can be used in the all tactical vehicles or other legacy or new tactical vehicles to prevent injury.
